To strengthen our team, we are looking for a

Programme Lead Energy Data Visualisation, Analytics and Modelling  
(m/f/d) – full- or part-time – Berlin-based

As Programme Lead, you will be responsible for leading and growing the energy data and modelling team at Agora, focusing on energy data visualisation, analysis and data management. You will also oversee modelling activities. The ideal candidate for this role will be a manager with a passion for data visualisation, data analytics and a strong understanding of the energy sectors. You will be capable of guiding our small team of data analysts, modellers, and developers by setting technical and growth strategies for Agora with a focus on innovative use of data in the energy transition policy context in Germany, Europe and worldwide. The data and modelling team of Agora is a team that works fast — as such, we want to work with people who are forward thinking, self-motivated and excited about new opportunities.

Die Aufgaben

  • Strengthening the organisation’s data analytics and visualisation strategy with an emphasis on developing versatile, scalable, and visually appealing digital tools and overseeing strategy implementation;
  • Managing a team of employees working on data management, visualisation, analytics and modelling, developing team size in line with the organisation’s needs; managing financial resources;
  • Overseeing the development of high-quality online visual charts and interactive dashboards and organisation-wide roll-out, providing expert guidance to your team members;
  • Overseeing Agora’s modelling activities, focusing on the development of nimble tools preferably based on open-source solutions, and providing expert interpretation of modelling outputs to support high quality visual insights;
  • Working closely with other teams within Agora to maximise communication reach and impact by deriving additional analytical insights through data processing and visualisation;
  • Overseeing a wide range of overlapping projects and processes, including setting budgets, schedules, and milestones to meet timelines and deliverables;
  • Engaging with Agora’s partner network and the wider energy data and modelling community to stay abreast of latest innovations, share best practice and support knowledge and capability development, including developing trainings;
  • Working with Agora’s closest partners in the field.

Wir erwarten

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject with strong quantitative skills, e.g. data or natural sciences, engineering, design or economics, preferably related to energy;
  • At least 10 years of relevant data visualisation and analytics experience, including web-based interactive, information graphics, visualisation techniques, visual storytelling, quantitative analysis, preferably in an energy context;
  • Experience with energy system models and legal/intellectual property aspects of public data is desirable;
  • Strong motivation and ability to use visualisation and data analytics to maximise Agora’s impact on driving policies for reaching climate-neutrality;
  • An organised and structured working style with attention to detail in setting up and maintaining data-bases on analytical tools.
  • A collaborative leadership style and experience managing and growing fast moving teams;
  • An entrepreneurial outlook, with openness to working on diverse challenges and topics with a can-do approach;
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to work dynamically to meet deadlines and manage risks in a growing, organisational environment;
  • Strong strategic thinking, creativity, planning, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A knack for partnering and collaborating with colleagues and team leaders with backgrounds across science, engineering, business, and policy to improve internal processes, systems and overall operationalisation;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of German advantageous.
