Georg Thomaßen joined Agora Energiewende to work on the decarbonization of the buildings sector in Germany. Simultaneousy, he was a PhD student at the University of Leipzig, with a focus on electricity market design.
Prior to joining Agora Energiewende, he was a Trainee at the EU Commission’s Joint Research Center, focusing on low-carbon heating as well as the integration of heat pumps into the power system.
Georg Thomaßen studied mechanical engineering and renewable energy systems in Darmstadt, Grenoble and Berlin, writing his theses on carbon capture and storage as well as alternative low-carbon processes in the chemical industry.
