Fabian Barrera is a Project Manager for Power-to-X (PtX) in South America. He is based in Berlin and works in the Hydrogen Team.

Before joining Agora, Fabian worked as an Associate Programme Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), where he supported the coordination and implementation of various IRENA initiatives in the region. He provided technical support to countries on different aspects of the energy transition, including renewable energy, sustainable development, and climate action.

Before that, Fabian was an Associate Professional for the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA), an initiative facilitated by IRENA looking to increase the use of geothermal energy worldwide.

Fabian also provided consultancy services at Ecofys (Guidehouse) on climate strategies and policies. He developed his master’s thesis on energy modelling in the transport team at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Additionally, he worked in the Colombian energy sector for more than three years. Fabian holds a master’s degree in Energy and Process Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Colombia.
