The Stiftung Umweltenergierecht (Foundation for Environmental Energy Law) is a non-profit research institution that creates new knowledge and ideas with sound expertise and scientific methodology. In the energy transition, new law is the central prerequisite for the implementation of technical innovations, the further rapid expansion of renewable energies and the necessary system changes. The Foundation for Environmental Energy Law was therefore founded on 1 March 2011 in Würzburg as a legal think tank for the energy transition. The 25 legal scholars analyse legal developments, explain complex interrelationships and create an overview of the paragraph jungle. In doing so, they explore the question of how the legal framework must change so that the climate goals can be achieved. The research institution is financed by donations, endowments and grants.
