Research creates knowledge - knowledge creates practice. Under this guiding principle, the FfE - consisting of the Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft e.V. (Research Centre for Energy Economics) and the Forschungsgesellschaft für Energiewirtschaft mbH (Research Society for Energy Economics) - works independently and in an energy carrier-neutral manner on the relevant energy technology and energy industry topics of the present and future. The FfE was founded in 1949 as a non-profit organisation.
The combination of research and science-based consulting make it possible to offer both research projects on the relevant issues of the energy transition and consulting services at the highest level. From many years of research projects and dissertations, the FfE has models at its disposal that can be used to carry out very detailed simulations of the energy system, electricity market, grids and the energy demand sectors and their interactions with each other.
In accordance with its statutes, the FfE places particular emphasis on the training of young scientists and supports them in the context of final theses or doctoral projects. Clients include public institutions, associations, companies from the fields of industry, commerce and services, energy suppliers and municipalities. The research and service spectrum of the FfE ranges from detailed energy consulting to complex structural analyses.
