The Energy Research Center of the Clausthal University of Technology unites institutes from the fields of engineering, natural sciences, economics and law in interdisciplinary research on the development of the energy system. Legal questions are dealt with by the Institute of German and European Mining and Energy Law under the direction of Prof. Dr. Hartmut Weyer. The work of the institute focuses on energy regulation including the incentive regulation of network fees, on the legal framework for network development and on the sustainability of the energy system. Besides a broad range of publications and presentations the institute has realized projects concerning smart grids, energy storage, network development and sustainability. It has experience in the interdisciplinary cooperation with partners inside and outside the university sector.
